Film Share 2

So I got around to playing with my second roll of film, Kodak Portra 400. I am still so-so about the pictures. The low quality scans from Walgreens aren't helping but I want to get my exposure down before I spend more money on better scanning. The pictures in print look really good, however. I was satisfied with these but not too, too happy. I can see where I still need a LOT of work... getting exposure right. Hopefully when I get an external light meter that will improve my exposure, right now I have just been relying on the in-camera meter and that is not really recommended. I have a roll of Fuji Velvia 50 left so I'll play with that before I order some more film. I want to go to Downtown to photograph some buildings with the next roll so we'll see how that works out for me. For now, here are the pictures from my second roll of FILM:

This one is one of my FAVORITES!!:

This one too. Joe is SUCH a good model:

My Mille:

That's it for now (even though the roll was 36 exposures... I won't bore you with all that LOL). (Disclaimer: there was light editing on some of these... like SUPER light, mostly removing some grain, but I still wanted to point that out. The one of Joe and the first one of Mena did have a little more work done, I might post the SOOC in another post for comparison.) Thanks for reading!

I bought a film SLR camera last week (a Nikon F100) and it came in the mail yesterday. I was soo excited to try it out and to make sure it even worked since I bought it used. It was in "E+" condition per Adorama. It arrived perfectly, with the manual, all caps, plastic bags and everything. The only thing I needed to buy was some film. I still need to buy a strap for it too since it didn't come with one.

It uses all my current lenses and even auto focuses with them all since the motor is built in!! That's awesome! I also got some Kodak Portra 400 and Fuji Film Velvia 50 (the numbers are the ISO) in 36 exposures just to play around with different brands of professional film. I was too eager to see if it even worked so I also bought some Kodak 400 film at the store in 12 exposure and that film was more expensive than the 36 exp!!! guess I'll stick to the "good kind" from now on :P. I got the film developed developed at Walgreens and their film scanner is definitely not the best so the images on the CD were pretty small and they look super grainy. I also got prints and they don't look this bad in print.

Anyway, here are the pictures. No editing on these. They are no where near perfect but this is my first time shooting manual mode on film. I need a lot more practice.

I love the bright blue sky. Aren't the colors just gorgeous! Manual Mode, Matrix metering, 1/800, f/8. Kodak Ultra Max ISO 400:

I swear they're not this grainy in print!! Manual mode, matrix metering, 1/320, f/8, Kodak Ultra Max ISO 400:

P-mode, 1/400, f/10, ISO 400:

Manual Mode, 1/200, f/8 ISO 400:

Manual Mode, 1/1000, f/8 ISO 400:

Thanks for reading! More film shares to come as I play more with the camera.

Sunny Grass

I love how beautifully the sun was streaking through these photos. Who knew a blade of grass could look so pretty just sitting in the sun?

A little "helping hand" came along while mommy was taking a photo of the grass so I had to move on to other "subjects":

Carlos said the sun looks like that in the photos because my lens (filter) was dirty. That may be true, but I think it still looks awesome. I got attacked by the ants after this one :-( :

One of my favorites of the day:

Random Photos

Since it's been a WHILE since I updated my blog... here's a few random shares from this weekend:

Mena wanted me to take a picture of her "double stack":

This is how she likes her cookies:

The face I get when I ask her for a smile *sigh*:

A serious look:

Hmm.... maybe I like it better in B&W:

A fake smile:

UGH! This girl seriously makes me need a drink... this is MY type of drink ;-) :

I swear I took photos of Litos too. Maybe next post will be a "Litos" post. Be on the lookout, hopefully it won't take me forever to share those, lol!

Thanks for reading :)
