Feeling so Blah.

I don't know why I've been feeling so blah about my photography lately. I hadn't taken any pictures in a few weeks but I just took some at the pumpkin patch this weekend. Looking at them in the camera I was really excited about them. Even when I loaded them to the computer they all looked great. It wasn't until after I started editing them that I began to feel so blah about how I was editing. Just doing what I usually do you know... nothing out of the ordinary. I love editing pictures so I don't know why I started to feel so bad about them. I mean, they looked good SOOC so it had to be my editing that messed them up. Some where more vibrant than others... some more bright... some darker. Ugh. I love editing but I hate editing a batch of pictures I guess because that's when I start seeing inconsistencies. I guess I should have used LightRoom and used the Sync option to keep them all looking the same.

Well I mean, even looking at other people's photographs makes me feel so blah about my own. There is nothing really special about it, nothing different or nothing that stands out. I tell myself how can I expect myself to learn and to grow if I don't go out there and practice. I leave a few weeks inbetween "shoots" of the kids so how can I see improvement if I don't practice. Ugh. I really, really need to practice and get myself out of this rut. :(

Halloween Boxes

What I like to do when I'm not taking pictures... paper crafting! I have a pink Cricut Expression (I love pink!!) that I used to make these for Carlos' co-woker. Her son's birthday is on Halloween and she liked the boxes I made for Isaac's birthday so she asked if I could make her some too. They took less time than I expected and it was really fun making these. Sorry my WB was all over the place on these... I don't know what gave me the bright idea to take these right under the kitchen lamp. Oh well. :)

I got lazy on the last two sides and just bought some stickers so I wouldn't have to cut any shapes out. My excuse is that I don't have a Halloween cartridge (the bat box is from the Batman cartridge). I really want to get a Halloween cartridge but now I can't decide when to spend my money on my photography hobby or my scrapbook/paper crafing hobby. ::Sigh:: I need to win the lottery ;)

Quick Photo Share

Man, I've really been neglecting posting on my blog. Not because I haven't taken any pictures I could post but because I haven't been super proud of any of my recent pictures. We bought the Nikkor 70-200mm VRII (it got here on Thursday) and I haven't had a chance to really play with it. I took a few pictures of the kids with it today but I was super disappointed at how bad they were. Well... they were not horrible but definitely not what I should be producing with this lens (they were all slightly blurry). I guess there is a learning curve that I have to overcome so hopefully I'll have more time to play with it soon. The size is another major factor that I have to get used to. It's really hard to keep a steady hand (something that I think I am pretty good at) with a lens this size. I'll have to keep playing with it so I can get used to it. In the meantime, here are some cute pictures I took of the kids today on the way to their Nana's house. Taken with the D700 and the 28mm 2.8.

I don't know why she was acting shy, she is anything BUT shy lol!

Then she decided to peek at me. I LOVE her!!!

Of course Carlitos needs attention too. If Mena is getting pictures he wants some too. "Take a picture of ma fin-go mom!" LOL They are both way too funny.

Thanks for reading :)
